Rockin and rollin repeat steps 1 4 with a few more colors of paint to create your masterpiece. After doing our marbled shaving cream paper the other day we decided to make a marbled earth craft for earth day. We used the popular marbled shaving cream painting method to replicate the look of the marbled planets and then set them on a black background with gold glitter stars to really make this beautiful marbled planet artwork stand out. Experiment with several marbles at once and see how they interact to create unique patterns.

And the final product is beautiful and marbled just like the real planets might look like in space. When the paint was dry i added the rings and displayed the planets in our dramatic play area. You can do an abstract collage or a picture composition like we did in this snowy day collage we marble painted various colored sheets of paper with white paint and then cut the painted sheets into shapes to make a winter themed collage. As you might have guessed we have been exploring marbles and you just can t explore marbles without including a little marble painting in your planning.

Before starting with new colours you can lift excess paint from the tray using a piece of scrap paper to clean the surface. Students can tilt the box and use gravity to roll their marbles or roll them using a spoon. Every time i introduce marble painting to a group of preschoolers i change the process a bit. I would recommend getting those cheap gloves to do this though as it stains fingers especially if you use food coloring yikes.

Display children s art in an area where they can easily see it. The marbled planets among the stars inspired my daughter and i when we were creating this preschool space craft. Some kids wanted me to hang up their planet like uranus where the rings are more up and down rather than side to side because they liked saying they made the planet that. Allow the circles to dry and tape the rings on to make them look like planets. It s a simple and easy art project that will excite your kiddos. What make it more fun is that each planet looks different from the next you never know what design will show up when you pull your paper out of the paint. You could draw round a small saucer cup jar lid or a bottle top as a guide for different sizes.

Glue the planets onto a black paper plate. If you re really adventurous try bouncing. I like how the marble painting makes it look like swirling gases and clouds. When the marbled paper is completely dry cut out some planet shapes.

Drop the paint colored marble into the box on top of the paper and roll it around to create lines and swirls.
