2 i may be wrong on this one but i ve heard that metal and fermentation don t mix.
I imagine the cheapo smooshed marbles sold at the dollar store and craft stores for s little more for fake flower arrangements would work just as well.

A small dish plus an additional weight place a small dish or a silicone cupcake liner on top of the prepared vegetables and weight down with a heavy object like food safe marbles pie weights or whiskey stones heavy enough to hold down your ferment.
Most traditional methods of lacto fermentation crocks barrels etc require keeping the produce submerged under the brine in order to protect it from bacteria that would otherwise rot the food the majority of fermenting crocks come with a weight that fits perfectly inside.
Marbles tied a in cheesecloth or muslin marbles work well because they can easily fit whatever size or shape jar you are using.
Bigger marbles will probably be easier because you won t have to remove so many when you re done.
