I have a slew of nail polish colors so i already had everything that i needed to do.
Marbling with nail polish slowest drying.
So i ve seen a few tutorials on marbling and some of them use acrylic paints.
Fill your container halfway with hot water.
The nail polish will be stuck on the face of the box.
I am going to use the same exact cup as well as distilled room temperature water for every brand i test.
Filtered water seems to slow the drying of the nail polish giving you more time.
Remove the tape and voilĂ it s that easy.
Partly because it s a coffee cup and partly because it uses fingernail polish to make the colors.
If it s even slightly wet still the polish wont transfer off the plastic.
I placed it to dry.
With the nail polish bottle very close to the surface of the water pour a drop or two of polish into the water.
So i ran myself to the dollar store because you know i love a good dollar tree diy.
Wait 10 mins for the nail polish to try and then pat the water droplets with a paper towel.
The only difference will be the polish and the pattern.
A bit of nail polish thinner not acetone can be added to the polish and you might get one or two good rings out of it but don t expect miracles.
Not waiting long enough before applying seche vite top coat.
Not waiting long enough for the polish on the plastic to dry.
Keeping the bottle close to the water s surface with help the polish stay on top of the water.
Not waiting long enough for my underwear to dry i mean the base coat of nail polish here ok.
They have colors that are perfect for this craft and i also grabbed a bunch of things to marble.
I poured a few drops and stirred.
It only needs to be slightly tacky not wet.
However the nail polish may have been a little more forgiving with time.

Upon reading my diy magazine last month i was really excited at the tutorial for using nail polish to marble slick surface furniture.
How to use nail polish to create marbleized mugs.
Well i don t have any furniture pieces needing a new look but i wondered if the same materials could be used on non furniture non slick surfaced items.
Once the nail polish touches the water it is going to want to set and heat will slow the process.
This should keep the nail polish together without making it set too quickly.
Keep it about 3 4 full to prevent spilling.
You might need to try a couple times with water slightly warm or cool.
The hotter the better.
We used three colors for each marbling.
This one however is right up my alley.
Again it seemed that you had to work quickly.

Use the stirring stick to collect the rest of the nail polish and to clean up the water for the next color.
